Avivessels (Aviation Vessels) are flying vehicles, mostly used for passenger and cargo transportation all over Fictionaria.
The first avivessel was built by science-pioneer Alfred Edmondson. He used his first big invention, the steam machine, to produce the power output needed to rotate the device’s airscrews. The first prototypes could fly, but were highly unsafe and even the great inventor was not able to control their flight course reliably. When Edmondson found electrificy, the foundation of Fictionaria’s modern life and culture, he could finally adjust the machinery fast and pricise enough by building the first Self-Stabilisation Gadget (SSG), an isolated machinery that measures it’s own acceleration and rotation in relation to the World and tries to maintain it.
These and other fundamental principles, brilliantly combined, stayed the same until today, still leaving it one of most complex and advanced technologies to date.
Today, Avivessels can be roughly classified into three categories:
One-Man-Vessels
Just big enough to hold one pilot, the generators and the electrifysystems. Mostly build for high velocity and short range flights and not suitable for long-distance travels. Some come equipped with board-cannons.
Mid-Range-Vessels
Most common Avivessel. Exist in various sizes and holding capacities. Range from public over private to armed transportation.
Large-Capacity-Vessels
Avivessels with large capacities for all sorts of cargo. Rather build for huge holding space and long distance flights than high speed and velocity. Commonly equipped with reinforced armor and board-cannons against mid-air assaults.
While these three categories define most Avivessels, many more kinds and types — from two-man-hunting vessels to flying fortress-vessels — are roaming the Fictionarian airspace.
